HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 04-1025 BY REPRESENTATIVES Stafford, Crane, Sinclair, Brophy, Cadman, Carroll, Clapp, Cloer, Coleman, Decker, Fairbank, Frangas, Harvey, Hefley, Hoppe, Johnson R., King, Lundberg, Madden, Mitchell, Paccione, Rhodes, Rippy, Rose, Salazar, Schultheis, Smith, Spence, Stengel, Vigil, Welker, White, Wiens, Williams S., Williams T., and Witwer; also SENATORS Cairns, Johnson S., Andrews, Arnold, Evans, Lamborn, and Sandoval. CONCERNING THE PURE BY CHOICE RALLY. WHEREAS, Our nation is at a crossroads regarding sexual purity and the dignity of the human person, especially on our college campuses; and WHEREAS, Abstinence is the only method that is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases; and WHEREAS, In support of those youth who choose abstinence, the Pure By Choice Rally will be held on March 6, 2004, at Magness Arena on the University of Denver Campus; and WHEREAS, The Pure By Choice Rally is being organized by a statewide alliance mobilizing over 30 of our faith-based and nonprofit community leaders to educate, equip, and send out thousands of youth to stand strong for sexual purity and respect of self and others; and WHEREAS, The Pure By Choice program partners with the faith community to advance a counter-cultural revolution honoring social and religious traditions regarding life, love, and healthy relationships by equipping young people and their families to meet the challenges of sexual purity; and WHEREAS, The support of government leaders for these important and culture-changing events will help make the Pure By Choice Rally a success and ensure that these kinds of positive youth initiatives continue to occur; now, therefore, Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the Sixty-fourth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the Senate concurring herein: That we, the members of the Sixty-fourth General Assembly, hereby demonstrate our commitment to and support of the Pure By Choice Rally as a tangible sign to our young people of our commitment to honor them in their courageous stand for sexual purity.
